AMPYR Solar Europe has commenced construction on the 75 MWp Llanwern Solar Farm near Newport, one of the largest solar projects currently being built in Wales.
A landmark Welsh project
Located on former industrial land, the project demonstrates how brownfield and lower-grade sites can be transformed into productive clean-energy assets without competing with prime agricultural land.
Once energised, Llanwern will generate enough renewable electricity to power tens of thousands of Welsh homes each year.
Supporting local jobs
Construction is creating skilled local employment, and AMPYR is working closely with regional suppliers and the local community throughout the build.
The project is expected to reach commercial operation in 2025.
